Original Paramount Pictures Scene Lobby Card (11×14) for the James Cruze silent drama, THE MATING CALL (1928) starring Thomas Meighan, Evelyn Brent, Renee Adoree, and Alan Roscoe. Meighan plays a farmer who returns from World War I to find his marriage to Brent has been annulled. She marries another man who is unfaithful to her, and though she tires hard to get Meighan back, he is no longer interested. One of the film’s great curiosities is the depiction of a KKK-type organization, who act more like a secret morality police than a strictly racist hate group. This original and rare lobby card is in near mint condition.
LONG PANTS (1927) 20814
Original First National Pictures Scene Lobby Card (11×14) for the Frank Capra silent comedy, LONG PANTS (1927) starring Harry Langdon, Gladys Brockwell, Alan Roscoe, and Priscilla Bonner. Harry (Langdon) has been kept in knee pants for years by his overprotective parents, but the day finally comes when he is given his first pair of long pants. His parents expect him to marry his childhood sweetheart, but Harry is much more interested in Bebe—a “fast” woman from the big city. Langdon’s brief career as a top-ranked silent comic was “meteoric” when he has signed to make comic shorts for the Mack Sennett Studio in 1923. By the 1930s, however, he was just another aging trouper, slogging his way through low-budget remakes of his best silent work. This original scene lobby card is in very fine plus condition.
