Original United Artists Three Sheet Poster (41×81) for the Brian Desmond Hurst production of the Charles Dickens classic, A CHRISTMAS CAROL (1951) starring the amazing Alastair Sim as Ebenezer Scrooge. This excellent British production (the original UK title was SCROOGE) is considered by most critics to be the definitive film of this enduring story. Sim, who was primarily a comic actor, portrays a malevolent as well as a humorous Scrooge. The scary “ghost story” atmosphere of the film is greatly enhanced by the cinematography of C.M. Pennington-Richards and the powerful score by Richard Addinsell. This is one of Dickens’ most powerful depictions of the plight of the poor and unfortunate in Victorian London set against the backdrop of Christmas. This wonderful tale of the transformation of a lonely and greedy man into a good and generous humanitarian is as one critic described “a feast for the heart.” This original three sheet poster is in fine plus condition, with some minor fold separations.
