THE GREEN BERETS (1968) 18497

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original Warner Brothers One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Ray Kellogg, John Wayne and Mervyn LeRoy war film, THE GREEN BERETS (1968) starring John Wayne, David Janssen, Jim Hutton, Aldo Ray, Mako, George Takai, Raymond St. Jacques, Jack Soo, Patrick Wayne, Irene Tsu and Mike Henry. When this film was first released, at the height of Vietnam, critics and audiences alike had a marked disinterest in its gung ho, jingoistic approach to the war. Similarly, the use of US locations (for the jungle scenes) and the casting of an almost elderly John Wayne threatened the overall verisimilitude of the project. Today, the film can be enjoyed as an unsubtle but patriotic look at the Special Forces that elevate the US military to the highest level of warfare. The one sheet offered here is in good condition only. It has a spill of some kind of liquid across David Janssen’s face which results in this grading. This poster should be linen backed in order present nicely. Priced appropriately.

Original Columbia Pictures Scene Lobby Card (11×14) for the George Cukor comedy/drama, THE MARRYING KIND (1952)—starring Judy Holliday, Aldo Ray, and Madge Kennedy. Holliday is known as one of the great comic actresses of her day, and this film does start out as a screwball comedy about a couple who find themselves in divorce court. The scenes of discordance and trials of married life are played for laughs in the beginning, but as the film progresses a much harder and darker edge takes over. This original scene lobby card is in very fine condition.
