The Castro government gave permission for this film, which presents the former government of Batista in an unflattering light and condemns American and British meddling, to film on location in Havana only months after the revolution. The script had to be submitted to the Ministry of the Interior, which insisted on 39 “corrections” to the dialogue. This original Italian poster is folded and in very fine condition.

Original Polish Poster (25×35 ) for the Anthony Mann epic, THE FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE (1964) starring Sophia Loren, Stephen Boyd, Alec Guinness, James Mason, Christopher Plummer, Anthony Quayle, Omar Sharif, John Ireland, Mel Ferrer, Eric Porter and Finlay Currie. Producer Samuel Bronston literally re-created ancient Rome in order to present its fall, politically, socially and economically in this Ultra Panavision 70MM production that came in at an estimated budget of $19M in 1960s money. Filmed primarily at the Bronston Studios in Spain, this international production was First Class all the way with magnificent cinematography, a lush orchestral score by Dmitri Tiomkin and Mann’s solid direction. The production team even replicated the Roman Forum down to the smallest detail. The artwork on this Polish poster is quite modern and depicts the armored head of a fallen centurion very much in the style of a contemporary fresco. Art is by Wiktor Gorka. Very Fine Plus.
