CHUBASCO (1968) 18512

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original Warner Brothers One Sheet Poster (27×41) for Allen H. Miner’s generation gap drama CHUBASCO (1968) starring Christopher Jones, Richard Egan, Susan Strasberg, Ann Sothern, Simon Oakland and Audrey Totter. This timepiece from the late 1960s very clearly focuses on a theme that was first put in motion with A SUMMER PLACE — young people in love and the adults who misunderstand them and everything they’re about. Christopher Jones (whose career burned fast and quick) is very much in the mold of James Dean here as the troubled young man desperate for understanding and a place in the world. This one-sheet poster is folded and in very fine condition with minor fold distress at the fold intersections.

GOLD RUSH MAISIE (1940) 9414B

Original MGM Scene Lobby Card (11×14) for the Edwin L. Marin comedy, GOLD RUSH MAISIE (1940) starring Ann Southern, Lee Bowman, Slim Summerville, and Virginia Weidler. In a role originally intended for Jean Harlow, Southern portrays the brassy Brooklyn burlesque dancer Maisie Ravier. Southern made ten films playing this character, and she also played Maisie on a popular CBS radio program from 1945—1947. Though primarily a comedy, this film has a serious side when Maisie meets a family of dust bowl farmers who have lost their farm and become migrant workers. Except for THE GRAPES OF WRATH (1940), very few scripts of the day dealt sympathetically with the plight of these families. Ann Southern remains one of the most underrated figures in Hollywood’s history. This lobby card is in very fine to near mint condition.

Original Alive Films and Nelson Entertainment Video Release Poster (25×40) for the Lindsay Anderson drama, THE WHALES OF AUGUST (1988)– starring Bette Davis, Lillian Gish, Vincent Price, and Ann Sothern. This is a wonderful poster of two great screen legends – Davis and Gish – in their final years. This was Lillian Gish’s last film. She and Davis portray sisters who are summering in the Maine seacoast region of their childhood. The whales which routinely visited the area when they were children no longer can be seen. There are flashbacks and memories, all seen through the golden lens of Anderson’s direction. This is the Video Release Poster for the film. We offer that poster in very fine to near mint folded condition for its nice photographs of the two great stars.
