Original Polish Poster (26×38) for the Jacques Demy romantic masterpiece LOLA (1961) starring Anouk Aimee and Marc Michel. Aimee is perhaps best known in the US for her performance in A MAN AND A WOMAN. Her role in LOLA established her as a major actress and enchanted audiences of the day. Her performance as a single mother and cabaret performer in a French seaside town was poignant and references to the character reappear in other Demy films like THE UMBRELLAS OF CHERBOURG and THE MODEL SHOP. Poster design features a pop art image of Lola with a cigarette and a man’s chapeau a la Marlene Dietrich. Art on this poster is by Maciej Hibner. Very Fine.

Original Astor Pictures One Sheet Poster (81×81) for the Federico Fellini masterpiece, LA DOLCE VITA (1960) starring Marcello Mastroianni, Anita Ekberg, and Anouk Aimee. The iconic image of Anita Ekberg holding a kitten – from the scene where she wades through the Trevi fountain – became the central image of the campaign for this film in the U.S. This film depicts seven days (and nights) in the life of an Italian journalist (Mastroianni), who is torn between making something serious of his life or drifting along on a pleasant stream of casual affairs and meaningless work. Fellini gives us a wonderful chronicle of a decadent society where there are no real values other than alcohol and sex, and no solutions except suicide. Fellini’s widescreen look at Roman life at the beginning of the sixties mirrors Hollywood’s fascination with historical Roman epics of the period. LA DOLCE VITA is, quite simply, one of the most famous films in the history of the cinema. It created a sensation when it was released. A landmark score by Nino Rota leaves an indelible imprint in the minds of all who see this film for the first time. The film was nominated for four Academy Awards, including Best Director for Fellini, Best Screenplay, and Best Art Direction. It won the Oscar for Best Costume Design. We grade this as Fine Plus. There is a small chip missing out of the border area on the upper right corner, easily restored with linen backing. Image area is very fine. We will sell this either backed or unbacked for the price stated. Ask us about linen backing services through one of our
skilled conservationists.

Original French poster (24×32) for the Jacques Demy romantic drama, LOLA (1961)—starring Anouk Aimee, Marc Michel, and Jacques Harden. Demy’s first and one of the most loveable films of the French New Wave, LOLA was originally conceived as a Technicolor musical but wound up being shot as a black and white drama. A bored young man Roland (Michel) has a chance meeting with Lola (Aimee), a cabaret dancer he knew in his teens. This chance meeting could have lasting consequences and possibly enduring devotion. The vividly drawn characters of this remarkable film are sincere, complex, and entirely empathetic. The general ambience and cinematography are beautiful and perfectly complimented by the original music of Michel Legrand sprinkled with Mozart and Beethoven. The poster is decorated with the lovely Anouk Aimee. The poster is in near mint condition.
