This timepiece from the late 1960s very clearly focuses on a theme that was first put in motion with A SUMMER PLACE — young people in love and the adults who misunderstand them and everything they’re about. Christopher Jones (whose career burned fast and quick) is very much in the mold of James Dean here as the troubled young man desperate for understanding and a place in the world. This unusual Republic western has two women as central characters. Kate (Totter) is married to the leader of a notorious gang of raiders during the Civil War. But the arrival of an “eastern girl” Sally (Leslie) sets up an eventual showdown between the two women. This original Danish poster is linen-backed and in fine plus condition.
