Original Columbia Pictures 30 x 40 Poster for the Herbert Ross musical FUNNY LADY (1975) starring Barbra Streisand, James Caan, Omar Sharif, Roddy McDowell and Ben Vereen. This musical biopic continued to explore the life of 1930s-era comedienne/singer Fanny Brice after her divorce from gambler Nicky Arnstein (Omar Sharif) and her later involvement with impresario Billy Rose. FUNNY LADY was a glamorous big budget production that attempted to capitalize on Streisand’s success in the original FUNNY GIRL — a project she carried triumphantly from the Broadway stage to the Academy Awards. Teaming her with James Caan, then riding the stardom train after his mega success with THE GODFATHER and several other projects, seemed like a no brainer. The results were a mixed bag but entertaining nonetheless and with a solidly memorable score. The poster is in very fine, unfolded condition.

Original Columbia Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Sidney Pollack romantic drama, THE WAY WE WERE (1973) starring Barbra Streisand and Robert Redford. In one of the best films of the 1970s, Streisand and Redford play two opposites—she is a stern and serious political activist and he is an easygoing and laid-back writer– who finally come together only to grow apart later. Although perhaps very sentimental at times, there is excellent chemistry between the two very believable characters. The film was nominated for six Academy Awards, including a Best Actress nomination for Streisand. Marvin Hamlish won the Oscar for Best Original Score and the title song won the Oscar for Best Original Song. Fine plus condition, theater used, but with no fold separations. There is a tear in the top border area which we have repaired with archival tissue.

Original Italian (79×55) for the William Wyler musical comedy, FUNNY GIRL (1968) starring Barbra Steisand, Omar Sharif, and Kay Medford. This is the musical biography of comedienne Fannie Brice, from her early days in the Jewish tenements of the Lower East Side of New York, to the height of her career with the Ziegfeld Follies. The original Broadway production opened at the Winter Garden Theater on March 26, 1964 and was nominated for the 1964 Tony Awards for Best Musical and Score. The film was 26-year-old Streisand’s feature film debut, directed by the great William Wyler, and it became the highest grossing film of 1968. It was nominated for eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Musical Score, and Best Original Song. Streisand shared the Oscar for Best Actress with Katharine Hepburn, one of the few times in the Oscar’s history that nominees tied for the award. Hepburn won her Oscar for THE LION IN WINTER. This poster is printed on two panels. The poster is unbacked, both panels are folded but are in very fine condition. Prettier by far the any of the American posters. While the credits are in Italian, Columbia kept the English title for the Italian release.

This is an original Warner Brothers One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Frank Pierson musical, A STAR IS BORN (1976) starring Barbra Streisand, Kris Kristofferson, and Gary Busey. In this updated version of the story, John Norman Howard (Kristofferson) is a has-been rock star who falls in love with a young and ambitious songtress named Esther Hoffman (Streisand). Though some critics have complained that the film seems to be totally obsessed with Hoffman and her career, there is no doubt that Streisand was at the top of her game when this film was released, and her singing parts are absolutely magical. It has been said that Elvis Presley was briefly considered for the part of Howard, but besides the obvious comparison of the character’s downward spiral to Presley’s waning career, he very much feared being upstaged by Streisand. The film was nominated for four Academy Awards, and Streisand and Paul Williams won the Oscar for Best Original Song (“Evergreen”). This original one sheet poster is folded and fine plus condition, with only minor fold separations.

This is an original National General Pictures Style B One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Irvin Kershner comedy, UP THE SANDBOX (1972) starring Barbra Streisand, David Selby, Ariane Heller, and Terry Smith. This is the story of Margaret Reynolds (Streisand), a young wife and mother who feels neglected by her husband and bored with her daily life in New York City. She finds release by slowly slipping into increasingly outrageous fantasies. This original style B one sheet poster is folded and in very fine condition.

Original MGM One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Barbra Streisand romantic musical, YENTL (1983) starring Streisand, Mandy Patinkin, Amy Irving, and Nehemiah Persoff. Streisand both starred in and directed this “film with music” about a young girl who goes to a Jewish religious school, dressed as a boy, to receive religious instructions. Perhaps no other film bears Streisand’s imprint as much as this film. With extraordinary music by Michel Legrand, YENTL is a striking testament to Streisand’s talent. This original one sheet poster is unfolded and in near mint condition.
