Original Allied Artists Three Sheet Poster (41×81) for the William Beaudine comedy, JALOPY (1953) starring Leo Gorcey, Huntz Hall, Bernard Gorcey, and Robert Lowery. By 1953 The Bowery Boys films were beginning to wear thin. The chief problem was that the Boys, who played loveable juveniles and sometime juvenile delinquents since DEAD END (1937), were quickly approaching middle age. A new producer, Ben Schwalb, and a new director, William Beaudine, convinced Leo Gorcey and Huntz Hall, that changing perspective by playing befuddled, near-slapstick adults was the way to extend the careers of the troupe. JALOPY was the first film in this approach. Good condition only. Needs linen backing. Three sheets are large posters which are printed on two panels intended to be butted together. Severe edgewear at the joined area, but vivid color. Linen backing this poster would conserve it. Ask us about poster conservation.
