Original Warner Brothers Three Sheet Poster (41×81) for the Lewis Seiler reform school drama, CRIME SCHOOL (1938) starring Humphrey Bogart, Gale Page, and Billy Halop. The film was an enlightened expose of how reform schools teach young people criminal behavior instead of reforming them, despite the overzealous use of cat-o-nine-tails by cruel and corrupt “reformers.” This was the second film made by the “dead end kids,” a group of young actors who appeared in Sidney Kingsley’s Broadway play DEAD END in 1935. Samuel Goldwyn brought all of them to Hollywood in 1937 and turned the play into a film. Universal adopted most of them and made twelve films and three 12-chapter serials with them. CRIME SCHOOL was the second of 89 films and three serials they made during their 21-year long film career. This is the only known surviving 3 sheet poster of this title and is in excellent condition.
