RENALDO AND CLARA (1978) 9392 ROLLED

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

In 1978, Bob Dylan, through his own film production and distribution company, Lombard Films, released RENALDO AND CLARA, a quasi-fictional, semi-documentary record of the famous Rolling Thunder Revue Concerts of 1975. Dylan and an entourage of friends and musical colleagues set out to play smaller surprise venues throughout the U.S. Musicians on the tour included Joan Baez, Bob Neuwirth, Ronee Blakelee, Ramblin’ Jack Elliot, Sam Shepherd, Allen Ginzburg, Mick Ronson, and several others. Dylan’s then wife Sara Dylan also appears in the film. Critics did not know what to make of the movie and quickly pronounced it a mess, more or less. It was long, sometimes discursive, always obtuse. But in its 235 minute run-time, it documented a lot of good music in what was one of the most interesting tours in the history of American Popular Music. The film was cut to two hours and received some additional but minimal distribution. This one sheet is for the original release from Dylan’s own company. Rare. Rolled one sheet has some minor edge glitches, but is overall in very fine plus condition. No folds.
