DARK PASSAGE (1947) 12750

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original Warner Brothers One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Delmar Daves film noir DARK PASSAGE (1947) starring Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, Agnes Moorehead and Bruce Bennett. One of four films costarring the legendary couple, DARK PASSAGE is also a superb example of a classic late 1940s film noir — chock full of murder, foggy San Francisco atmosphere, revenge, jealousy and a police manhunt. Bogart portrays an escaped San Quentin convict returning to the City by the Bay in search of the murderer responsible for sending him to the “big house.” With the help of a very young and lovely Lauren Bacall, the mystery is solved thanks to a complicated plot involving plastic surgery and identity change. In the end, the lovers reunite on a beach in Peru! Any original paper from the Bogart/Bacall collaborations is considered a top-flight piece of movie memorabilia. The poster has a small amount of intersection fold distress with very minimal separation but is in very fine condition. There are some small pinholes but no missing image.

Original Warner Brothers French Poster (47×63) for the Delmer Daves film-noir thriller, DARK PASSAGE (1947)—starring Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Becall, Bruce Bennett, and Agnes Moorehead. Bogart plays a man convicted of murdering his wife who escapes from prison in order to prove his innocence. The film is certainly one of Bogart’s best performances, and his chemistry with Becall is the softest, tenderest, and most romantic of their films together. This original French poster is linen-backed and in very fine condition.

Original 1956 Re-Release Half Sheet Poster (22×28) for the John Huston adventure western, THE TREASURE OF THE SIERRA MADRE (1948) starring Humphrey Bogart, Walter Huston, Tim Holt, Bruce Bennett, and Barton MacLane. Based on a novel by the mysterious recluse B. Traven, the film explores the degenerative effects of greed, distrust, and hatred on three prospectors who team up to search for gold in Mexico. Bogart gives an amazingly complex performance as Dobbs who is clearly destined for a tragic fate. Walter Huston, the director’s father, steals the picture as the wise old prospector who knows all along what will happen, and takes it all in stride. Indeed, the elder Huston won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, while his son John Huston won two Oscars for Best Director and Best Screenplay. The film was also nominated for Best Picture. Good condition only. In need of linen-backing. Never folded, but tears and distresses. Worth restoring!
