BOLERO (1934)

full.bolero sc-2

Original Paramount Pictures Portrait Lobby Card (11×14) for the Wesley Ruggles dance drama, BOLERO (1934) starring George Raft, Carole Lombard, Sally Rand, and Frances Drake. This is the story of Raoul (Raft), who rises from a coalmine laborer to being one of the best dancer in Europe, and finally to owning his own club. The dances are actually Raft’s vaudeville and nightclub act before he came to Hollywood. At one point in his early career, Raft was a tea-room gigolo dancing with dowagers for tips and more. This great 30s dance film is more about mood and style and not so much about plot. Sally Rand does her famous “fan dance” complete with see-through negligee. From the famed Royal Theater Collection, this beautiful portrait lobby card of Raft and Lombard is in near mint condition. RARE.

Original Paramount Pictures Personality Poster (14×17) for the popular screen comedienne CAROLE LOMBARD (1930s). When this poster was produced, Lombard, who had been acting since she was twelve years old, was the highest paid actress in Hollywood. Lombard died young in an airplane crash on a tour selling war bonds. With only some minor flaws—light creases, pinholes, corner chips, light edge wear and foxing—this stylish personality poster is in fine plus condition. Very rare – an extraordinary piece for those who love Carole Lombard.

Original Warner Brothers Window Card (14×22) for the Mervyn LeRoy and Bobby Connolly romantic comedy, FOOLS FOR SCANDAL (1938) starring Carole Lombard, Fernand Gravet, and Ralph Bellamy. This endearing, lighthearted screwball comedy was not a box office success because of the negative publicity surrounding the affair between Lombard and Clark Gable. Because Gable was already married, Lombard was regarded as a “home wrecker.” This original window card has been trimmed (13X16) and is in good but not fine condition. Restoration is recommended; MovieArt can arrange for restoration.
