This film was a fairly literal adaptation of the acclaimed 1960 novel by John Updike. Caan plays “Rabbit” Angstrom who comes home one day from his dead-end job to find his pregnant wife (Snodgress) passed-out in front of the TV and grasping a highball glass. He instantly decides to leave. Snatching up his coat and car keys, he is off and running- taking the viewer on a rambling, aimless journey.
