Though the fan magazines seemed to be more taken with her beauty than her acting ability, she became a popular star with Vitagraph starting in 1916, and ultimately she made over sixty films in her career. She later moved to First National Pictures and became one of their biggest stars. She even received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her portrayal of Lady Hamilton in THE DIVINE BEAUTY (1929). Sadly, her inability to sing and her wooden acting style doomed her career in the talkies, and her last Hollywood film was released in 1932.
