TEXASVILLE (1990) 3928

Original Columbia Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Peter Bogdanovich drama, TEXASVILLE (1990) starring Jeff Bridges, Cybill Shepherd, Cloris Leachman, Timothy Bottoms, and Annie Potts. The film is the sequel to the astonishingly original and iconic THE LAST PICTURE SHOW (1971), except it is now thirty years later than the events chronicled in the first film. Like the original film, this one is more character study about “real” people—weird and flawed. Indeed, all the teenage characters from the first film seem to have never grown-up. There is one new character, Duane’s wife played by Annie Potts, who literally steals the show. Many critics have commented that the film is not really capable of standing on its own. If you have never seen THE LAST PICTURE SHOW, you may very well feel like you have walked into the middle of the story. This original one sheet poster is folded and in very fine condition.

Original Columbia Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Peter Bogdanovich iconic drama, THE LAST PICTURE SHOW (1971) starring Timothy Bottoms, Jeff Bridges, Cybill Shepherd, Ben Johnson, Cloris Leachman, and Ellen Burstyn. This film is a timeless masterpiece of the lives of ordinary folks in a small Texas town in the 1950s. Perceptive but melancholy—this outstanding character study is at the top of the list of many film critics for one of the great American films. The movie has many superlative qualities—a beautiful and poetic screenplay by Larry McMurtry and Bogdanovich, the skillful direction of Bogdanovich, bleak stunning cinematography by Robert Surtees, and career best performances by almost the entire cast. The film was nominated for 8 Academy Awards—including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Supporting Actor for Bridges, and Best Supporting Actress for Burstyn. Johnson and Leachman deservedly won the Oscars for Best Supporting Actor/ Actress for truly unforgettable performances. This original one sheet poster is folded and in very fine condition. Minor browning at the fold lines, as is so often apparent on posters with white backgrounds.

Original Columbia Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Martin Scorsese classic thriller, TAXI DRIVER (1976) starring Robert De Niro, Jodie Foster, Cybill Shepherd, and Harvey Keitel. Art by Belgian airbrush artist Guy Peelleart . This wonderful piece of cinema history deals with a mentally unstable Vietnam veteran (De Niro), who works as a nighttime taxi driver in New York City, where decadence and sleaze feed his overwhelming desire to lash out and also to save a teenage prostitute (Foster). In this masterpiece of urban alienation, Paul Schrader’s iconic script paints a portrait of hopeless loneliness in the largest city in the world. The film was nominated for four Academy Awards—including Best Picture, Best Original Score for Bernard Hermann, Best Actress for Foster, and Best Actor for De Niro. This original one sheet poster was folded slightly irregularly, but has no fold separations and is, overall, a very fine example of the poster. Would look stellar linen backed.
