Original Paramount Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Michael Curtiz all-time Christmas favorite, WHITE CHRISTMAS (1954) starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, and Vera-Ellen. All of the performances were wonderful, and Irving Berlin’s score was about half new songs and half from previous scores. Crosby is charming, witty, and utterly delightful. Danny Kaye is hilarious, and Clooney is riveting as the older of the two Haynes sisters. Vera-Ellen as the younger sister is also wonderful and performs some unbelievably good dancing. Of course, Crosby sang “White Christmas” in an earlier Paramount musical, HOLIDAY INN (1942) also scored by Irving Berlin. Indeed, Berlin won the Academy Award for Best Original Song that year and was nominated for Best Original Song for “Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep” in WHITE CHRISTMAS. This was also the first film done in Paramount’s new wide screen process called VistaVision. This original one sheet poster is linen-backed, fully restored, and in very fine condition.

Original RKO One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Elliott Nugent musical comedy, UP IN ARMS (1944) starring Danny Kaye, Dinah Shore, Dana Andrews, and Constance Dowling. Samuel Goldwyn had been trying to sign Kaye to a movie contract for two years before he finally agreed. Goldwyn put him in a series of Technicolor musicals beginning with this picture. The story revolves around Kaye’s character, a hypochondriac that gets drafted and makes life miserable for his fellow soldiers. Kaye steals every scene he is in, deftly switching into and out of a pastiche of popular song styles, slang, scat, and even an African-American impersonation. The film received two Academy Award nominations for Best Musical Score and Best Original Song (“Now I Know”).
