Thurman gives a striking performance as “The Bride” who was a member of a deadly assassination squad led by her lover “Bill.” Realizing she is pregnant with Bill’s child, she decides to escape from her life as a killer. But on her wedding day, she is gunned down and put into a coma by an angry and jealous Bill. When she wakes up four years later and discovers her baby is gone, she decides to take revenge on the gang. This film indulges Tarantino’s love of 70s kung-fu films with lots of cheesy violence. However, there are many wonderful aspects to the film, including a smart and often hilarious dialogue, stunning art direction, beautiful cinematography, and a haunting soundtrack.
