Original 20th Century Fox One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Edmund Goulding light-hearted musical comedy, DOWN AMONG THE SHELTERING PALMS (1951) starring William Lundigan, Jane Greer, Mitzi Gaynor, David Wayne, and Gloria DeHaven. The story begins after the end of World War II, when Capt. Willoby (Lundigan) and his men must “occupy” the remote Midi Island. At first disgusted at not being able to go home, the men then meet the “friendly” island women—except they are not supposed to “fraternize” with them. Originally filmed in 1951, the film was held back by Fox until 1953 and seems to have been based on the studio trying to cash in on the popular stage success of Rogers and Hammerstein’s “South Pacific.” Gaynor is amusingly miscast as a native Polynesian girl. Gloria DeHaven, however, sings a rendition of “All of Me” that steams up the screen as much as anything Marilyn Monroe ever did. Good condition only with a fold separation which we have repaired with archival tissue. Other general signs of use. We recommend linen backing for this poster. Priced accordingly.

Original 20th Century-Fox One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Walter Lang musical biography, WITH A SONG IN MY HEART (1951) starring Susan Hayward, Rory Calhoun, David Wayne, and Thelma Ritter. This Technicolor extravaganza is devoted to the singing career of the legendary Jane Froman, an aspiring songstress who finally lands a gig on the radio. When her popularity soars, she decides to go on a European tour. But her plane crashes, and she is left partially crippled. Nevertheless, she continues to entertain the Allied troops in World War II on crutches. The film received five Academy Award nominations—including Best Actress for Hayward and Best Supporting Actress for Ritter. Alfred Newman deservedly won the Oscar for Best Musical Score. This original one sheet poster is in fine plus condition.
