Original United Artists Insert Poster (14×36) for the Burt Lancaster western, THE KENTUCKIAN (1955) starring Burt Lancaster, Dianne Foster, Diana Lynn, and John McIntire. This is the story of a Kentucky widower in the 1820s bound for Texas with his young son. He is thwarted in his efforts by a corrupt constable, a long-standing family feud, and a beautiful indentured servant. The film is a great period piece showing the speech, habits, attitudes, and clothing in the backwoods of Kentucky in the 1820s. This original insert poster is folded and in fine plus to very fine condition. There is some minor distress to the poster edges in places, but nothing that would prevent framing the poster successfully. The insert is distinguished for this title because of the painting of Lancaster by American artist Thomas Hart Benton. Benton had done work for other films as well, including the John Ford film THE GRAPES OF WRATH.
