Original MGM One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Vincente Minnelli musical comedy, KISMET (1955)—starring Howard Keel, Ann Blyth, Dolores Gray, and Vic Damone. This story is based on a play originally written by Edward Knobloch around 1910 and used by popular Broadway character actor Ottis Skinner for many years. Skinner even did a silent film version of the play. Later, the song writing team of Bob Wright and Chet Forrest composed a score based on the melodies of Alexander Borodin. The Broadway production opened at the Ziegfeld theater in New York City on December 3, 1953 and ran for 583 performances and won the 1954 Tony Award for Best Musical. Eventually the musical came to the attention of the Arthur Freed unit at MGM, and he chose Minnelli to direct this opulent production. This original one sheet poster is folded and in very fine plus condition. A lovely example of the poster.
