This film is a biography of the famous comedian Joe E. Lewis, who started his career as a talented singer who performs in speakeasies. When the mob tries to kill him, but only succeeds in cutting his vocal chords, he is coaxed into becoming a comedian and becomes even more popular in this new role. Frank Sinatra gives one of the best performances of his career. The film won the Academy Award for Best Original Song “All the Way” which became one of Sinatra’s signature songs. The poster is in very good condition with only the upper left corner missing. Priced accordingly.

This remake of the Ernest Hemingway short story “To Have and Have Not” for the third time resets the plot to the early days of the Cuban revolution. A charter boat skipper (Murphy), who needs money to pay off debts, gets entangled in a gun running scheme. Boasting some great action sequences, the film is beautifully photographed by Hal Mohr in actual Key West locations. This complete set of 8 original lobby cards range from very good to very fine condition.

Original Paramount Pictures Presskit (9 x 11.5) for the Robert Aldrich sports comedy THE LONGEST YARD (1974) staring Burt Reynolds, Eddie Albert, and Ed Lauter. Reynolds delivers perhaps his best performance as the ex-NFL quarterback who gets sent to prison and there organizes a football team made up of the inmates to play against a team of the guards. The “big game” turns out to be one of the most hilarious sporting events ever seen on film. The film was remade in 2005 with Reynolds now playing the part of the coach. This original Presskit has no press releases or production notes but does have 24 original studio B&W stills with their descriptors in very fine condition.

The cinematography is glorious with Rome as the background, and Georges Auric’s great score compliments the story’s inherent lyricism. The film was nominated for ten Academy Awards—including Best Supporting Actor for Albert, Best Director for Wyler, and Best Picture. The film won three Oscars, including Best Actress to Hepburn. This original one sheet poster is linen-backed and in very fine condition.
