Original Zoetrope Studios 1981 Restored Re-Release One Sheet Poster (25×39) for the Abel Gance silent biography, NAPOLEON (1927) starring Albert Dieudonne, Vladimir Roundenko, and Edmond Van Daele. The film is a massive six-hour biopic of Napoleon, tracing his career from his schooldays, his flight from Corsica, through the French Revolution and the Terror, culminating in his triumphant invasion of Italy in 1797. The film stops here because it was intended to be part one of six, but Gance was never able to raise the money to finish the project. Film historian Kevin Brownlow supervised the restoration of the film in the years leading up to 1980, and his reconstruction was re-edited and released by Zoetrope Studios with a score by Carmine Coppola performed live at the screenings. This poster is for the opening of this restoration presented by Francis Ford Coppola at Radio City Music Hall in New York on January 23-25, 1981. This original re-release one sheet poster is rolled and in very fine condition.
