Original Universal Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Rudolph Mate adventure classic, THE PRINCE WHO WAS A THIEF (1951) starring Tony Curtis, Piper Laurie, Everett Sloane, and Jeff Corey. Much has been made of the heavy accent of the young Curtis, but otherwise he ably portrays a young man who is raised by a thief only to later discover that he is the rightful prince of the kingdom. The film was part of Universal’s grooming process aimed at transforming Curtis from a contract player to a full-fledged star. The script is well written, the direction is smooth, and the technical merits of the film are very good—especially the musical score by Hans Salter. This original one sheet poster is folded and in very fine to near mint condition.
THE PATSY (1964) 9192
Original Paramount Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Jerry Lewis comedy, THE PATSY (1964) starring Lewis, Ina Balin, Everett Sloane, and Phil Harris. When a star comedian dies, his comedy team decides to train a bellboy (Lewis—who else?) to fill his shoes. But as you might guess, the bellboy can’t do anything right. This original one sheet poster is folded and in fine plus condition—with only a few small holes but no fold separations.
THE LADY FROM SHANGHAI (1947) 20184
Original Columbia Pictures Scene Lobby Card (11×14) for the Orson Welles film noir, THE LADY FROM SHANGHAI (1947) staring Welles, Rita Hayworth, Everett Sloane, and Glenn Anders. Fascinated by the gorgeous Mrs. Bannister (Hayworth), seaman Michael O’Hara (Welles) joins a bizarre yachting cruise, and ends up mired in a complex murder plot. Welles adapted the screenplay from a novel by Sherwood King, as well as directing the film and playing one of the leading roles. Hayworth, though still married to Welles at the time, was estranged from her husband and only agreed to take the role as part of a final bid to save their marriage. This original lobby card of Hayworth and Welles is in very fine plus condition.
