DIAL M FOR MURDER (1954) 20393

full.dialmformurder-insert-20393-post-backing

Original Warner Bros. Insert Poster (14×36) for the Alfred Hitchcock thriller, DIAL M FOR MURDER (1954) starring Ray Milland, Grace Kelly, and Robert Cummings. Adapted from a popular Broadway play by Frederick Knott, the film tells the story of an elaborate murder-for-hire scheme involving a washed-up tennis pro (Milland) and his well-to-do wife (Kelly). Classic Hitch tension arises because Kelly is having an affair with a crime scriptwriter (Cummings). Besides superb dialogue, the film boasts excellent direction by Hitchcock, stunning color photography by Robert Burks, and a typically brilliant score by Dimitri Tiomkin.
The film was released in 3-D but also played “flat” or without the three dimensional effect. This poster was originally folded; it has now been paper-backed and presents beautifully. We grade the poster as fine plus because of its original folds. No missing paper or obtrusive in-painting.
Looks very very nice with vivid color. Since the poster is paper-backed it will be shipped flat and should remain that way until framing. A very nice example of what is one of the best Hitch insert posters.

Original Paramount Pictures scene lobby card for the Alfred Hitchcock thriller, TO CATCH A THIEF (1955)—starring Cary Grant and Grace Kelly. Grant plays a retired jewel thief and Kelly plays the slightly naughty daughter of a nouveau riche oil millionaire. Grace Kelly, John Williams and a police detective are showed in period dress at the costume ball. This film was somewhat lighter fare for Hitchcock without his trademark suspense, but with snappy dialogue replete with sexual innuendo. Nominated for three Academy Awards, Robert Burks won the Oscar for Best Color Cinematography. He shot almost the entire film on location on the French Riviera. This original lobby card is in very fine condition.

MOGAMBO (1953) 9561

full.mogambo 1s 9561

Original MGM One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the John Ford romantic adventure, MOGAMBO (1953) starring Clark Gable, Ava Gardner, Grace Kelly, and Donald Sinden. This film was a remake of RED DUST (1932), a film made by Gable over twenty years earlier. In the Ford remake, Gable plays a world weary and cynical big game hunter and safari leader. First he meets Gardner, a wisecracking American chorus girl who finds herself stranded in the jungle. Then, a British anthropologist (Sinden) and his sheltered wife (Kelly) arrive on the scene. Gable agrees to lead them all on an expedition into gorilla country. Gardner was nominated for Best Actress and Kelly was nominated for Best Supporting Actress. The great African scenery and wild animals are beautifully photographed in Technicolor, and Ford brilliantly decided not to use a musical score but rather jungle sounds and tribal chants as his soundtrack. This original one sheet poster is linen-backed and in fine plus condition with only some touch-up at fold lines and repairs to minor tears.
