Original 1951 Realart Re-Release Half Sheet Poster (22×28) for the Todd Browning Universal Pictures horror classic, DRACULA (1931) starring Bela Lugosi and Helen Chandler. Based more on the Hamilton Deane Broadway play than on the original novel by Bram Stoker, this early “talkie” set the horror genre in motion and catapulted Lugosi, who already was the star of the Broadway play for three years, to instant fame. There had been a silent version of the story, NOSFERATU (1922)—starring Max Schrenk in the title role. But Lugosi made the famous Count into a handsome, courtly, civilized aristocrat who mesmerized and charmed his victims. This original 1951 re-release half sheet poster is paper-backed and is graded in very good condition because of a small missing upper right corner piece. The poster has been skillfully repaired. This style Realart half sheet – with the red background and superior image of Lugosi is rarely seen.
