OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original Polish Poster (26×38) for the Michael Cacoyannis spoof, THE DAY THE FISH CAME OUT (1967) starring Tom Courtenay, Sam Wanamaker, Colin Blakely, Candice Bergen and Ian Ogilvy. Some atomic weapons are accidentally unloaded in flight near a primitive Greek island. The pilots of the plane are sent in on reconnaissance, the townspeople behave bizarrely, the tourist are restless, Gays seem to be everywhere and Candice Bergen is blonde and tan! The poster design features a stunning primitive image of a two-headed fish, one colorful and alive, the other black and dripping with decay. Art on this poster is by Jerzy Flisak. Condition is very good. Could use linen backing.

THE CONQUEROR WORM (1968) M21048

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original American International One Sheet Poster (27×41) for Michael Reeves’ horror film THE CONQUEROR WORM (aka WITCHFINDER GENERAL/1968) starring Vincent Price, Ian Ogilvy, Patrick Wymark and Wilfred Brambell. This was one of a handful of films made by British director Michael Reeve before his untimely death from a drug overdose. Based on this terrifying and powerful film, his career might have been extremely productive if not acclaimed. Here, Vincent Price portrays an evil and calculating “Witchfinder General” riding the English Countryside in search of witches to prosecute and destroy. This tale of sadism, violence, and torture is not for the lighthearted but the quality of the direction and performances lend it a aura of authenticity. Director Reeves asked Vincent Price to tamp down the level of his histrionics resulting in one of the finest performances of the actor’s career. Note: the title THE CONQUEROR WORM was from a poem by Edgar Allen Poe. This was used in the United States to tie the film in with a series of Poe adaptations AIP had successfully promoted throughout the 1960s. The poster is folded and in near mint condition.
