Original Warner Brothers 1956 Re-Release Half Sheet Poster (22×28) for the Raoul Walsh film-noir thriller, HIGH SIERRA (1941) starring Ida Lupino and Humphrey Bogart. One of Bogart’s best gangster roles, he played many sensitive scenes with surprising depth of character. This was the last movie in which Bogart did not receive top billing. A thoughtful script, artful direction, and masterful performances make this one of the best film-noir thrillers ever. Original release posters for this film are very pricey and almost impossible to find. Good condition only. Some smudging and minor tears. Rumpled. This poster is dirty with some issues that can be easily addressed in restoration — and worth restoring!

Original Warner Brothers One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Raoul Walsh film noir crime drama, THEY DRIVE BY NIGHT (1940) starring George Raft, Ann Sheridan, Ida Lupino, and Humphrey Bogart. Raft and Bogart are small-time truck drivers. Sheridan is a wise cracking waitress, and Lupino plays the vicious, scorned woman. This film was popular with audiences not because of the story so much as the forceful performances by all the main actors and the excellent direction by Walsh. The most memorable moment in the film is the trial sequence in which Lupino disintegrates into hysterics on the witness stand. This original one sheet poster is linen-backed and in very fine condition.

ROAD HOUSE (1948) 8740

full.roadhouse 1s 8740

Original 20th Century-Fox One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Jean Negulesco film noir thriller, ROAD HOUSE (1948) starring Ida Lupino, Cornel Wilde, and Richard Widmark. Roadhouse owner, Jefty Robbins (Widmark), hires sultry, tough-talking torch singer Lily (Lupino) against the advise of his manager Pete Morgan (Wilde). When Robbins falls for Lily, she turns her attentions to the Pete who is playing hard to get. This is certainly one of Lupino’s best performances, and her rendition of the song “One for My Baby” is a wonderful combination of alcohol and cigarettes. Widmark is at his best when he is playing a “psycho villain” role, and Jefty’s murderous jealously produces a twisted plot to “punish” the two lovers. The direction, screenplay, and cinematography are all excellent in this film. This original one sheet poster is linen-backed and in good condition with some restoration touch-up and repair of missing chips. Minor water stain in upper border area.
