Original Polish Poster (26×28) for the Alan J. Pakula Western drama, COMES A HORSEMAN (1978) starring Jane Fonda, James Caan, Jason Robards, Mark Harmon, James Keach, George Grizzard and Richard Farnsworth. Stylistically more drama than Western, Jane Fonda appears as cattle rancher in dire straits finding love with rugged James Caan while fighting the bad guys who covet her property. Beautifully shot by Gordon Willis (of THE GODFATHER SAGA and MANHATTAN fame), this modern Western (the late 1940s) really aimed high artistically as a powerful tale of ranchers in conflict with the contemporary world and the battles they fight for survival. The poster design takes on the look of a horseman with a rainbow appearing from his eye — perhaps imaging a brighter future? Art on this poster is by Lech Majewsky.

Original Columbia Pictures 30 x 40 Poster for the Herbert Ross musical FUNNY LADY (1975) starring Barbra Streisand, James Caan, Omar Sharif, Roddy McDowell and Ben Vereen. This musical biopic continued to explore the life of 1930s-era comedienne/singer Fanny Brice after her divorce from gambler Nicky Arnstein (Omar Sharif) and her later involvement with impresario Billy Rose. FUNNY LADY was a glamorous big budget production that attempted to capitalize on Streisand’s success in the original FUNNY GIRL — a project she carried triumphantly from the Broadway stage to the Academy Awards. Teaming her with James Caan, then riding the stardom train after his mega success with THE GODFATHER and several other projects, seemed like a no brainer. The results were a mixed bag but entertaining nonetheless and with a solidly memorable score. The poster is in very fine, unfolded condition.

Original Columbia Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Mark Rydell crime comedy, HARRY AND WALTER GO TO NEW YORK (1976) starring James Caan, Elliott Gould, Michael Cain, and Diane Keaton. This masterpiece of physical comedy tells the story of two hopelessly inept con men (Caan and Gould) who attempt to pull off the largest bank heist of the 19th Century. This original one sheet poster is in very fine condition.

Original Paramount Pictures Three Sheet Poster (41×81) for the Howard Hawks sport drama, RED LINE 7000 (1965)—starring James Caan, Marianna Hall, Laura Devon, and Gail Hire. This film is the story of three racecar drivers and their girlfriends. Although the racing scenes are very exciting, the dramatic scenes between the drivers and girlfriends are more like a campy, delicious soap opera. Caan and Hill, however, create some very dynamic chemistry in their scenes together. This original three sheet poster is in very fine condition.

Original Warner Brothers One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Jack Smight drama, RABBIT, RUN (1970)—starring James Caan, Carrie Snodgress, Anjanette Comer, and Jack Albertson. This film was a fairly literal adaptation of the acclaimed 1960 novel by John Updike. Caan plays “Rabbit” Angstrom who comes home one day from his dead-end job to find his pregnant wife (Snodgress) passed-out in front of the TV and grasping a highball glass. He instantly decides to leave. Snatching up his coat and car keys, he is off and running- taking the viewer on a rambling, aimless journey. This original one sheet poster is folded and in fine plus condition.

Considered by most critics to be one of the greatest films of all time, the film captures some of the most hidden and guarded secrets of the underground world. The film was nominated for eleven Academy Awards—including Best Director for Coppola, Best Music for Nino Rota, and Best Supporting Actor to Pacino, Caan, and Duvall. Surprising that such a monster film would have this modest pressbook. But Paramount by no means knew that this film would become a pillar of U.S. cinema history. Such are the exigencies of Hollywood Bally Hoo. There was an Ad Supplement for this pressbook, which had the newspaper ad mats for the film. We do not have that – admittedly the more boring part of the pressbook. Very good condition.

Original Warner Brothers Set of 11 Oversized B&W Still Photographs (11×14) for the Francis Ford Coppola drama, THE RAIN PEOPLE (1969)—starring James Caan, Shirley Knight, and Robert Duvall. Having discovered that she is pregnant, Natalie (Knight), a Long Island housewife, panics and leaves home. On her trip she becomes involved with a hitchhiker named Killer (Caan) and a wacky but abusive cop with a checkered past named Gordon (Duvall). This early Coppola drama has beautiful cinematography and memorable characters. This set of oversized B&W stills are in very fine condition. Only three of the stills are pictured – the portraits of the principals.

This is the only film ever directed by Caan and is based on a true story about a man (Caan) who cannot understand why his ex-wife has disappeared along with their children—eventually discovering they have been swallowed up by the witness protection program. This original rolled insert poster is in near mint condition.
