Original 20th Century Fox One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Edmund Goulding light-hearted musical comedy, DOWN AMONG THE SHELTERING PALMS (1951) starring William Lundigan, Jane Greer, Mitzi Gaynor, David Wayne, and Gloria DeHaven. The story begins after the end of World War II, when Capt. Willoby (Lundigan) and his men must “occupy” the remote Midi Island. At first disgusted at not being able to go home, the men then meet the “friendly” island women—except they are not supposed to “fraternize” with them. Originally filmed in 1951, the film was held back by Fox until 1953 and seems to have been based on the studio trying to cash in on the popular stage success of Rogers and Hammerstein’s “South Pacific.” Gaynor is amusingly miscast as a native Polynesian girl. Gloria DeHaven, however, sings a rendition of “All of Me” that steams up the screen as much as anything Marilyn Monroe ever did. Good condition only with a large fold separation and general wear. We recommend linen backing for this poster. Priced accordingly.

Original RKO One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Ray McCarey crime mystery, THE FALCON’S ALIBI (1945)– starring Tom Conway as The Falcon. The film also starred Rita Corday, Vince Barnett and the amazing Jane Greer. THE FALCON’S ALIBI is one of the better offerings in RKO’s Falcon series of mystery films featuring the amateur detective Tom Lawrence, a character that first appeared in THE FALCON’S BROTHER (1942.) The debonair and aristocratic “Falcon” character was taken from Michael Arlen’s detective series. The poster has that great 1940s RKO look which just telegraphs “movie poster.” Condition is fine plus to very fine, with some minor tape on the reverse side. Colors are vivid.

Original RKO Title Lobby Card (11×14) for the Irving Pichel film-noir drama, THEY WON’T BELIEVE ME (1947) starring Robert Young, Susan Hayward, Jane Greer, and Rita Johnson. Before his beloved TV characters—the wise dad on “Father Knows Best ” or the kindly Dr. Marcus Welby, Robert Young played many different characters, not all of them good guys. In this film he gives remarkable depth to the role of a man who marries a woman for her money (Johnson) and then cheats on her constantly. The three actresses also give outstanding performances, particularly Rita Johnson as the manipulative wife with a touching frailty and Susan Hayward as office girl with lofty ambitions. This original title lobby card is in very good condition.

Original RKO Insert Poster (14×36) for the Jacques Tourneur excellent film noir, OUT OF THE PAST (1947) starring Robert Mitchum, Jane Greer, Kirk Douglas, and Rhonda Fleming. Some critics consider this film to be the best film noir ever. It certainly has a wonderful screenplay, incredible cinematography, expert direction, and flawless acting. It has all the noir elements—an innocent man (Mitchum) in over his head, a relentless bad guy (Douglas), and a totally amoral femme fatale (Greer). This was Kirk Douglas’s second film, and he and Mitchum both received good reviews for their parts. But the film really belongs to Greer, whose sheer scope of evil will leave you dumbfounded. This original insert poster was originally folded and is in very fine condition.
