His performance was so riveting that he was nominated for Best Actor, the first posthumous acting nomination in Academy Award history as Dean had been killed in an automobile accident in September 1955 at the age of twenty-four. Other Academy nominations included Best Director for Kazan and Best Screenplay for Paul Osborn’s adaptation of the popular John Steinbeck novel. Jo Van Fleet was nominated for and won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress as the mother of the twin brothers and a successful but embittered brothel madam in Monterey. Originally folded, this one sheet poster is in very fine minus condition with only some minor foxing and a snipe on the right side.
