Original Universal Pictures Window Card (14×22) for the Viktor Tourjansky and Giorgio Venturini war adventure, THE COSSACKS (1960)—starring Edmund Purdom, John Drew Barrymore, and Gloria Mall. Set in Russian Empire in the 1850s, this adventure film focuses on the strife between the Cossack Muslims, led by Shamil (Purdom) and Czar Alexander II. As a condition of an early truce, Shamil’s young son Giamal (Barrymore) is sent to be raised and trained at the elite Imperial School of Cadets. But the young man is still drawn to his Cossack roots, even though he falls in love with the Princess Tatiana (Moll). The conflict between the Cossacks and the Russians heats up to an explosive conclusion. This original window card is in very fine condition, but stamped with the theater and playdate. This window card was used at the Nona Theater in Lafayette, Louisiana.
