This was the first major motion picture with a black actor to ever be shot on location in the South. The cast and crew received death threats from the Ku Klux Klan, had their car tires slashed, and had to be protected by armed state troopers. This twenty-page deluxe pressbook contains the usual synopsis of the film, informative articles about cast and crew, various sizes of ad slicks, and promotional ideas about contests. With cover design by David Weisman, the overall condition is very good– with some edge and surface wear on the front cover and some cuts in the ad slick section. All publicity and press material is intact.
