Original MGM Six Sheet Poster (27×41) for the iconic American film CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF (1958) starring Paul Newman, Burl Ives, Jack Carson, Judith Anderson and, of course, Elizabeth Taylor in one of her greatest roles. Taylor plays the beautiful and sultry wife of the alcoholic and sexually ambivalent young football player Brick (Newman). Brick is the son of an autocratic Southern patriarch who is known in the play only as Big Daddy, played wonderfully by the great Burl Ives. Jack Carson, Judith Anderson and Madeleine Sherwood flesh out the cast, as they work through the stew of Tennessee Williams’ tangle of desires and ambitions. One of the great American plays, whose influence on the American Theater cannot be overestimated, is transformed into a remarkable film by director Richard Brooks. Maggie the cat is shown on the poster where her appeal is most apparent – on the bed. The poster is backed on a thinner, European style linen and is in very fine plus condition. Note the presence of a censor stamp in the background area. This can be left on or removed. Rebacking is not necessary, but is certainly possible for an even better look. One of the great American six sheets and one of the nicest Elizabeth Taylor images. Classic.

Original United Artists One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Alfred Hitchcock gothic thriller, REBECCA (1940) starring Laurence Olivier, Joan Fontaine, George Sanders, and Judith Anderson. Many critics consider this film to be Hitchcock’s first true masterpiece. The film was produced by David O. Selznick, with whom Hitchcock clashed from the beginning, due to Selznick’s obsessive control over the film. Olivier is perfect as a broken man living in the past, who marries a frightened and weak Fontaine. By the end of the film, she evolves into a mature and strong woman capable of holding her own. Sanders is positively hateful, and Anderson portrays one of the most coldly sadistic figures in cinematic history. Besides great acting and direction, the film has magnificent cinematography and a wonderfully haunting score by Franz Waxman. The film was nominated for eleven Academy Awards, including Best Actor for Olivier, Best Actress for Fontaine, Best Supporting Actress for Judith Anderson, and Best Director for Hitchcock (his first director nomination). It won two Academy Awards—including Best Picture. This original one sheet poster is in fine plus condition with some restoration. Fixed rough and uneven borders. Fixed several small tears and missing chips. Poster presents extraordinarily well.

Original Paramount Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Frank Tashlin musical comedy, CINDERFELLA (1960) starring Jerry Lewis in the title role, Ed Wynn as his “Fairy Godfather,’ Judith Anderson as the “Wicked Stepmother,” and an exceptionally lovely Anna Maria Alberghetti as the “Princess Charming.” This was Jerry Lewis’ take on the classic Cinderella story, and it received mixed reviews mainly because the critics thought Lewis sang and mugged too much. Although the film was finished in January of 1960, Lewis insisted that it make its debut that next Christmas, complete with a holiday promotion campaign and a record tie-in. This original one sheet poster is linen-backed and in near mint condition with some minimal touch-up. There is a minor stain in the upper right hand border.
