The film, adapted from Boris Pasternak’s famous novel, is an artful and seamless combination of the personal and political lives of the main characters through the period of World War I and the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia. The film was nominated for ten Academy Awards—including Best Picture, Best Director for Lean, and Best Supporting Actor for Courtenay. The film won five Oscars—including Best Color Cinematography to Freddie Young and Best Original Music to Maurice Jarre. This original 2-record set is in very fine condition.
