Douglas gives a strong and convincing performance as the hero of Homer’s second epic, displaying the hero’s talent for ruses and deceptions as well as his courage and loyalty. Mangano plays both the faithful wife, Penelope, as well as the sorceress Circe. Only through a special contest and with the help of the goddess Athena—Ulysses is finally able to regain his kingdom, his wife, and his son. This original Belgian poster is in very good condition.

The film is a marvelous retelling of the revolt in 73 B.C. at a gladiatorial school, which mushrooms into a crisis for the Roman Republic. Opposing political factions by Olivier and Laughton try to use the revolt to further their political ends. Besides outstanding performances from the entire cast and expert direction by Kubrick, the film has beautiful cinematography by Russell Metty and a brilliant score by Alex North. The film was nominated for six Academy Awards and won five Oscars, including Best Supporting Actor to Ustinov and Best Cinematography to Metty. We have graded this poster as Very Good Plus. There is some paper abrasion near the top center. Colors are vivid. Some edge wear. This poster would be improved with Linen Backing. Roadshow posters are much more difficult to acquire than 35mm release material for this film – and better looking as well.

The film tells the story of an actress, a director, and a screenwriter who are asked to help revive the career of ruthless Hollywood producer Jonathan Shields (Douglas). All three are reluctant because they have been used and betrayed by Shields in the past. Based on the career of David O. Selznick, this well-written drama was nominated for six Academy Awards and won five Oscars—including Best Supporting Actress to Grahame and Best Screenplay to Charles Schnee. This original half sheet poster with a luminous Lana Turner in the clutches of Kirk Douglas is folded and in very fine condition—with some pinholes in the corners, minor edge wear, light smudging in the borders, and minor tears in the bottom right corner and border.

Douglas portrays a man forced to come to terms with the shallowness of his life after a serious car accident. His wife represents everything he despises about what he has become. Faye Dunaway, stunningly beautiful as his young and brutally honest lover, helps him see the misery of his existence. The poster design features an image of a man (clearly Douglas) whose octopus-like tentacles control everything and everyone. This original Polish poster is in very fine condition.

Original Italian Poster (39×55) for the Andre De Toth western, THE INDIAN FIGHTER (1955) starring Kirk Douglas, Elsa Martinelli, and Walter Matthau. Set in 1870, this is the exciting story of a former Indian fighter (Douglas) who has made peace with the Indians but while leading a wagon train through hostile Indian territory unwittingly gets involved with a Sioux Chief’s beautiful daughter (Martinelli). Cinematographer Wilfred M. Cline made wonderful use of the spectacular Oregon scenery, and the action scenes are expertly staged and executed—especially the Indian attack on the fort. This original Italian poster is folded, as is customary, and is in very fine plus condtion — no fold separation, vivid color, good paper integrity. A very nice poster for this film.

Preminger offers a skillful blend of war drama and soap opera with memorable acting performances by his entire cast. This original one sheet poster is folded and in fine plus condition.
