Three Original Columbia Pictures Lithographed Color Stills (8×10) for the Bill L. Norton drama, CISCO PIKE (1972) starring Kris Kristofferson, Karen Black, Gene Hackman, and Harry Dean Stanton. With a screenplay by Robert Towne, Kristofferson is memorable in his first starring role about a modern day troubadour down on his luck. He is amazingly charismatic and even sympathetic even though he is a drunken pothead who cheats on his girlfriend (Black) and races to unload $10,000 worth of marijuana in a single weekend. The film is a wonderful time capsule of the hippie music scene in L.A. in the early 1970s. These original color stills are in very fine plus condition.

A STAR IS BORN (1976) 6158

full-astarisborn-1sh-6158

This is an original Warner Brothers One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Frank Pierson musical, A STAR IS BORN (1976) starring Barbra Streisand, Kris Kristofferson, and Gary Busey. In this updated version of the story, John Norman Howard (Kristofferson) is a has-been rock star who falls in love with a young and ambitious songtress named Esther Hoffman (Streisand). Though some critics have complained that the film seems to be totally obsessed with Hoffman and her career, there is no doubt that Streisand was at the top of her game when this film was released, and her singing parts are absolutely magical. It has been said that Elvis Presley was briefly considered for the part of Howard, but besides the obvious comparison of the character’s downward spiral to Presley’s waning career, he very much feared being upstaged by Streisand. The film was nominated for four Academy Awards, and Streisand and Paul Williams won the Oscar for Best Original Song (“Evergreen”). This original one sheet poster is folded and fine plus condition, with only minor fold separations.
