Original MGM Three Sheet Poster (41×81) for the Mervyn LeRoy musical comedy, LATIN LOVERS (1953) starring Lana Turner, Ricardo Montalban, John Lund, and Louis Calhern. Turner plays a woman with everything—including $37 million she has just inherited. But she can’t tell if men pretend to love her just for her money. She meets and falls for Montalban on a trip to Brazil. Turner was gorgeous in the film, and costume designer Helen Rose had the inspiration to dress her in combinations of black and white. She was striking in contrast to her ultra-lush Technicolor trappings. This original three sheet poster is folded and in very good condition. The poster is in two sections –never really assembled but probably used at a theater. It has some fold separation and some small tears and pinholes. We recommend linen backing for this poster. What she wanted was to be offered better roles like the ones given to Greta Garbo, but for MGM mogul Louis B. Mayer, there was only room for one Garbo on the MGM lot. All three scene cards are in very fine condition. These cards were once bound in a homemade scrapbook, and, therefore, they were all stitched in on the left side. All three cards have also been slightly trimmed. Nevertheless, the image area on all three cards is very fine to near mint.

full.themerrywidow-insert-17825

Original MGM Insert Poster (14×36) for the Curtis Bernhardt musical, THE MERRY WIDOW (1952)– starring Lana Turner, Fernando Lamas, Una Merkel, and Richard Haydn. Bernhardt’s THE MERRY WIDOW is the third take on this story, preceded by the 1934 version starring Maurice Chevalier and the 1925 version starring Mae Murray. In this remake, Crystal Radek (Lana Turner) is the widow of a wealthy native of the fictional country of Marishkovia, which is now broke. So, the Marshkovian king dispatches Count Danilo (Fernando Lamas) to seduce Radek and bring her fortune back to its homeland. Turner’s singing was panned and the film was not very successful, but as an MGM musical from the 50s it is a curious failure among such greats as SINGING IN THE RAIN, GIGI, LILI etc. A good image of Lana Turner, however, on a poster which is in very fine, folded, condition.

full.slightlydangerous-1sh-1913

Original MGM One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Wesley Ruggles romantic comedy, SLIGHTLY DANGEROUS (1943)—starring Lana Turner, Robert Young, Walter Brennan, and Dame May Whitty. This delightful comedy finds Turner being bored with her job and with her life in Hotchkiss Falls. The film gave 21-year-old Turner her first big starring break in a film not dominated by a male star. While lightweight comedy for sure, Turner never misses a chance to give the role of scheming girl a sense of fun and innocence—with a sexy twist. This original one sheet poster is unbacked and in very good condition. There are some minor water stains along the bottom border and some minor fold distresses and separations.
