Original Polish Poster (27×41) for the Joseph Losey WWI courtroom drama, KING & COUNTRY (1964) starring Tom Courtenay, Leo McKern, Dirk Bogarde and Barry Foster. Courtney, always perfect in this type of role, plays a shell-shocked Army Private who deserts after a gruesome assault on his unit eventually facing trail for desertion. He becomes a symbolic scapegoat for a normal reaction to the horrors of war. Poster design features an image of a military cap literally “hung out to dry.” With artwork by Stanislaw Zamecznik, this original Polish poster is in very good condition, with a 2″ chip missing from the upper right border.

Original Polish Poster (26×33 ) for the Karel Reisz literary drama, THE FRENCH LIEUTENANT’S WOMAN (1981) starring Meryl Streep, Jeremy Irons, Leo McKern, Peter Vaughn and Liz Smith. Based on a novel by John Fowles and adapted by playwright Harold Pinter, this film told dual romantic tales, one contemporary, one historical, with the lovers portrayed by the same actors; the contemporary couple are actors portraying the 19th century characters in a film under production. The artwork on this Polish poster depicts an abstraction of Streep as the French Lieutenant’s Woman — almost a “goth” figure by contemporary standards. Art is by Wieslaw Wakuski. Very Fine.

Original Columbia Pictures One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Randal Kleiser romantic adventure, THE BLUE LAGOON (1980) starring Brooke Shields and Christopher Atkins. Shields and Atkins are two cousins who are marooned on a tropical island at an early age and must grow up by themselves. Though there is not much dialogue between the two teenagers with limited education and vocabulary, the film is really a visual poem with stunning cinematography by Nestor Almendros, who received an Academy Award nomination for his outstanding work. This original one sheet poster is folded and in near mint condition.
