Original Belgian Poster (14×22) for the Fritz Lang “film noir western” in Technicolor, RANCHO NOTORIOUS (1952) starring Marlene Dietrich, Arthur Kennedy, and Mel Ferrer. Dietrich, reprising her role from DESTRY RIDES AGAIN thirteen years later, is the boss of an outlaw hideout casino where Kennedy comes seeking the man who killed his girl in a robbery. Lang’s direction is exceptional. Indeed, this beautifully atmospheric and suspenseful film captures all the complex nuances of the characters, at times teetering on the verge of camp. Unfortunately, the narrative theme, “The Legend of Chuck-a-luck,” horribly sung by unknown ballad singer William Lee is a continual annoyance. Fortunately the songs chosen for Dietrich are much better, even captivating in her iconic style. This original Belgian poster is one of the best posters in the world for this film and is linen-backed and in very fine condition.
