full.closeencountersofthethirdkind-6sh-9690

Original U.S. six sheet poster for the Steven Spielberg science fiction classic, CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND (1977) starring Richard Dreyfuss, Francois Truffaut, Teri Garr, Melinda Dillon, Bob Balaban and Lance Henriksen. A close encounter of the third kind is an actual meeting with an animated alien being associated with a UFO; not just a sighting or a physical effect from contact with the spacecraft. In Spielberg’s classic film, several ordinary Americans find themselves drawn to a remote part of the American plains where they will literally find themselves in the presence of extraordinary beings from another world. This six sheet for CLOSE ENCOUNTERS is one of the few six sheet posters for a Spielberg film. By the end of the seventies the studios had almost quit making these six sheet format posters. Printed on two panels. Condition is very fine, but folded. Ask us about linen backing and poster conservation in general.

BOUND FOR GLORY (1976) 21190

full.boundforglory-lobby card set-21190

Original U.S. Lobby card set for the Hal Ashby film BOUND FOR GLORY (1976) starring David Carradine, Melinda Dillon, Ronny Cox and Randy Quaid. The film is a partial biography of American folk music icon Woody Guthrie. It tells Guthries story of intenerant wandering and initial fame from radio during the late 1930s and 1940s. David Carradine is quite plausible as the young Guthrie and Ashby directs the film reverently. One of the best things about the movie, other than the covering of many of Woody’s songs is the lush Panavision cinematography by the genius Haskell Wexler. Wexler seems to find the truth in Guthrie’s lyrics and translates them into breathtaking vistas as well as gritty portraits of the dustbowl. This lobby card set is in very fine plus condition. An excellent example lobby card set for this movie.
