Wildly entertaining to children with some off-the-wall humor for adults, this film continues to be a family favorite. This masterpiece follows the life of Karen Blixen (Streep), a Danish baroness who established a plantation in Africa. The film is excellent in almost every respect; indeed, it was nominated for eleven Academy Awards. It won seven Oscars—including Best Picture, Best Director to Pollack, Best Cinematography, and Best Screenplay. This original one sheet poster is folded and in very good condtion, with a very small water stain in the border and a small chip missing from the lower right border area.

Original Polish Poster (26×33 ) for the Karel Reisz literary drama, THE FRENCH LIEUTENANT’S WOMAN (1981) starring Meryl Streep, Jeremy Irons, Leo McKern, Peter Vaughn and Liz Smith. Based on a novel by John Fowles and adapted by playwright Harold Pinter, this film told dual romantic tales, one contemporary, one historical, with the lovers portrayed by the same actors; the contemporary couple are actors portraying the 19th century characters in a film under production. The artwork on this Polish poster depicts an abstraction of Streep as the French Lieutenant’s Woman — almost a “goth” figure by contemporary standards. Art is by Wieslaw Wakuski. Very Fine.

Written by Nora Ephron, this film is an autobiographical look at the breakup of her marriage to investigative reporter Carl Bernstein. They meet, marry, settle in Washington, and start a family. Then, pregnant with their second child, she is emotionally destroyed when she discovers that her husband is having an affair with another woman. Streep’s portrayal of the pregnant wife was greatly enhanced by the fact that she was actually pregnant herself at the time. This original one sheet poster is folded and in fine condition, with an extra crease in the vertical fold and minor fold distresses but no separations.

This is an original United Artists One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Woody Allen romantic comedy, MANHATTAN (1979) starring Allen, Diane Keaton, Michael Murphy, Meryl Streep, Mariel Hemingway and New York Congresswoman Bella Abzug (in a brief cameo). Allen plays Isaac, a TV show writer who is recently divorced and dating a 17-year-old high school student Tracy (Hemingway). But when he meets Mary (Keaton), he falls in love with her. While Allen admits that this is his least favorite film, it is the most commercially successful of his career. All of the acting performances are great, with Hemingway receiving a nomination of for Best Supporting Actress. The script is witty, and Allen and Marshall Brickman received the film’s only other Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. Shot in black and white, the cinematography is more than gorgeous. This is the first Allen film to use the widescreen Panavision process. With the music of George Gershwin enveloping every scene, the whole experience of this film is first rate. This original folded one sheet poster is the first printing on enameled paper and is in very fine condition. While hundreds of original MANHATTAN posters were printed, a minority of them are first edition poster printed on this enameled stock.
