This film has a wonderful sense of ironic humor about a successful New York playwright, Barton Fink (Turturro), who comes to Hollywood to write a script for a Wallace Berry wrestling movie. Staying at the eerie Hotel Earle, Fink develops severe writer’s block. Turturro gives the performance of a lifetime as Fink, and John Goodman proves that he is a first class acting talent. Michael Lerner was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. The film was also nominated for Oscars for Best Art Direction and Best Costumes.
