THE ARRANGEMENT (1969) 1136

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original Polish Poster (27×41) for the Elia Kazan relationship drama, THE ARRANGEMENT (1969) starring Kirk Douglas, Deborah Kerr, Faye Dunaway, Richard Boone, Hume Cronyn and Michael Murphy. Douglas portrays a man forced to come to terms with the shallowness of his life after a serious car accident. His wife represents everything he despises about what he has become. Faye Dunaway, stunningly beautiful as his young and brutally honest lover, helps him see the misery of his existence. The poster design features an image of a man (clearly Douglas) whose octopus-like tentacles control everything and everyone. This original Polish poster is in very fine condition.

This is an original United Artists One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Woody Allen romantic comedy, MANHATTAN (1979) starring Allen, Diane Keaton, Michael Murphy, Meryl Streep, Mariel Hemingway and New York Congresswoman Bella Abzug (in a brief cameo). Allen plays Isaac, a TV show writer who is recently divorced and dating a 17-year-old high school student Tracy (Hemingway). But when he meets Mary (Keaton), he falls in love with her. While Allen admits that this is his least favorite film, it is the most commercially successful of his career. All of the acting performances are great, with Hemingway receiving a nomination of for Best Supporting Actress. The script is witty, and Allen and Marshall Brickman received the film’s only other Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. Shot in black and white, the cinematography is more than gorgeous. This is the first Allen film to use the widescreen Panavision process. With the music of George Gershwin enveloping every scene, the whole experience of this film is first rate. This original folded one sheet poster is the first printing on enameled paper and is in very fine condition. While hundreds of original MANHATTAN posters were printed, a minority of them are first edition poster printed on this enameled stock.

BREWSTER MCCLOUD (1970) 1101

Original MGM Style B One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Robert Altman zany dark comedy, BREWSTER MCCLOUD (1970)—starring Bud Cort, Sally Kellerman, Michael Murphy, and Shelley Duvall. Brewster (Cort) is a quiet and withdrawn boy who lives in a fallout shelter beneath the Houston Astrodome and has a dream to take flight within the confines of the stadium. Some critics have seen this film as a clever parable that satirizes the emptiness of middle class values, the absurdity of human priorities, and our futile attempt to break away. Altman also treats the film as a giant bird watching extravaganza, planting bird references everywhere throughout the film. But it has not been lost on many fans of this film that the whole movie is an allegory about LSD and the counterculture of the late sixties. And interesting musical score by John Phillips. This original one sheet poster is in fine condition.
