Manckiewicz thriller, 5 FINGERS (1952) starring James Mason, Danielle Darrieux and Michael Rennie. 5 FINGERS is a tremendous suspense film in which James Mason plays a wildly underestimated valet, in WWII-era Istanbul, quietly selling secrets to the Nazis including plans for the D-Day invasion. His dream is to retire to South America with the countess with whom he collaborates. The poster features a black and white image of Mason with a camera, going about his dastardly business, with the subtitle “KRYPTONIM CICERO” (the original novel was called OPERATION CICERO). Original 20th Century-Fox One Sheet Poster (27×41) for Henry Koster’s THE ROBE (1953) starring Richard Burton, Jean Simmons, Victor Mature, Michael Rennie, Dean Jagger, Jay Robinson, Torin Thatcher and Richard Boone. This epic tale of the crucifixion of Christ and the healing power of faith was originally advertised as “The first motion picture in CinemaScope–the modern miracle you see without glasses!” Thanks to Philip Dunne’s literate script and some impressive musical scoring and production values, this Biblical epic told a persuasive tale of multiple individuals — gladiators, slaves and centurions — caught up in the infamous reign of the psychotic Roman emperor, Caligula. This one sheet poster for the film’s 1963 re-release is in very fine condition. There are some pinholes. Colors are bright and unfaded.

This original one sheet poster is folded and in very good condition, with only pinholes in the corners and minor edge wear.

Original 20th Century-Fox One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Roy Ward Baker romantic fantasy, I’LL NEVER FORGET YOU (1951) starring Tyrone Power, Ann Blyth, Michael Rennie, and Dennis Price. A British production, the film was known in the UK by the title, THE HOUSE IN THE SQUARE (1951). Time travel, mystery and romance is the engine of this story about an American nuclear scientist, played by Tyrone Power living in London after the war. Power is a brooding, moody, and depressed type until, while strolling in a rainstorm, is struck by lightning and transported magically back in time to the eighteenth century. His mood improves and so does his love life when he meets the beautiful Ann Blyth. No spoilers here, but this story was derived from a play by John L Balderston. Balderston was an interesting writer who contributed to some of the great Universal Horror classics: DRACULA, FRANKENSTEIN, BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN, THE MUMMY. This story was later adapted as a Broadway musical, ON A CLEAR DAY YOU CAN SEE FOREVER, which was later filmed as a vehicle for Barbra Streisand. The time travel territory is one that has been explored in films often – BACK TO THE FUTURE, SOMEWHERE IN TIME, and TIME AFTER TIME to name a few. And also, a little bit of Twain here, as in A CONNECTICUT YANKEE. This original one sheet poster is folded and in very fine condition with only a small fold separation.

This is an original 20th Century-Fox Insert Poster (14×36) for the Robert Wise sci-fi masterpiece, THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL (1951), starring Michael Rennie, Patricia Neal, Hugh Marlowe, and Sam Jaffe. Everything about this film is superior: a beautiful and literate script, superb and believable acting, skillful but restrained direction, incredible special effects for the time, and a magnificent score by Bernard Hermann which utilized one of the earliest electronic instruments, the eerie and other-worldly Theremin. Original 20th Century-Fox Half Sheet Poster (22×28) for the Edmund Goulding teen drama, TEENAGE REBEL (1956) starring Ginger Rogers, Michael Rennie, and Betty Lou Keim. Dodie (Keim), the fifteen-year-old daughter of Rogers (in one of her last feature films), is not so much a rebel as the sad child of a divorce. She has been estranged from her mother for eight years since her parents’ divorce. But when she is finally sent to her mother so her father can secretly get married, she must learn to accept her mother and new stepfather. In all, the film is an excellent attempt to dramatize the effects of divorce on a child at a time when divorce was still unusual. This original half sheet poster is in very fine condition.
