Original Studio Films One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Joseph Kohn African-American musical extravaganza, ROCK ‘N’ ROLL REVUE (1955). Although you were supposed to think that this was a live concert at the vintage Apollo Theater; in fact, this film was a compilation of short music films performed at different times. Only The Clovers and Big Joe Turner are really rock and roll, the rest of the performers are rhythm and blues, jazz, and tap dancing stars mixed with comedy performances. Even The Clovers, who had more R&B charting hits than any other vocal group at the time, were only marginally in the rock and roll category. But the film did have great performances by Duke Ellington and his fabulous drummer Louis Bellson. Other notable greats in the film are Larry Darnell (know at the time as “Mr. Heart & Soul), Nat “King” Cole, Lionel Hampton, and Dinah Washington. This original one sheet poster is linen-backed and in near mint condition.
