WOMEN IN LOVE (1969) 1007

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original United Artists Insert Poster (14×36) for the Ken Russell romantic drama, WOMEN IN LOVE (1969) starring Alan Bates, Oliver Reed, Glenda Jackson, and Jennie Linden. Adapted from a novel by D. H. Lawrence, this film represents one of the best literary adaptations in modern film history. The cast is nearly magical in dissecting the lives of four intelligent and educated young people in the British industrial Midlands in the early 1920s. Jackson who was relatively unknown at the time won her first Oscar for her magnificent performance. The film was also nominated for Best Cinematography, Best Director, and Best Screenplay.

TOMMY (1975) 9624

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Original Columbia Pictures Advance One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Ken Russell fantasy musical, TOMMY (1975) starring Oliver Reed, Ann-Margret, Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend, Tina Turner, and Elton John. A singing cast tells the story, set against the original music by The Who, with powerful and striking story telling by avant-garde director Russell. There has been some grousing about Reed’s singing ability (or lack thereof), but who can forget the amazing performances of Tina Turner and Elton John. Ann-Margret was nominated for Best Actress, and Pete Townshend was nominated for Best Music. This original advance one sheet is folded and in very good condition, with some irregular folds with fold stresses. This poster could be professionally cleaned and linen-backed very successfully.

After he is drummed out, the embittered officer joins a wandering gang of bandits and gets his revenge upon those who framed him. This original one sheet poster is folded and in very good condition.

OLIVER! (1968) 19052

full.Oliver

Original 2-Panel Subway Advance Poster (45×60) for the Carol Reed musical, OLIVER!—starring Ron Moody, Jack Wild, Shani Wallace, Oliver Reed, and Mark Lester. The legendary story by Charles Dickens was admirably adapted as a musical for the London stage by Lionel Bart. It then became an equally big hit on Broadway and was finally adapted for film in 1968. Nominated for 11 Academy Awards, the film won Best Picture and Best Director for Reed. In addition, Onna White won a special honorary award for her outstanding choreography. The sequence for “Consider Yourself” is one of the greatest dance sequences in film history. This pre-Academy Award 2-panel advance poster was for the U.S. Premiere of the film on December 10, 1968. Any U.S. material that does not have the Oscar statuette on the poster – hence “pre-Oscar” – is very scarce. This unusually rare poster is in very good condition and is linen-backed. This is one of the best posters for this film we have ever seen. We found this poster in very good condition and immediately had it restored expertly. It looks great. No missing image; some repairs to border insults. Linen backed.

THE FOUR MUSKETEERS (1974) 2277

Original 20th Century-Fox One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Richard Lester action adventure, THE FOUR MUSKETEERS (1974) starring Oliver Reed, Raquel Welch, Richard Chamberlain, Michael York, and Faye Dunaway. This was the second half of Lester’s THE THREE MUSKETEERS (1973) and was actually filmed at the same time as the first movie, much to the consternation of the actors who were unaware that they were making two films! Certainly one of the better adaptations of the popular novels by Alexandre Dumas, this film is one of the wittier action films of the seventies. Lester, who had made a huge reputation for himself by directing A HARD DAY’S NIGHT in 1964, had become one of the cinema’s most wanted directors. His imaginative directing and fluid camera give the film his trademark antics. Originally folded, this one sheet poster is in very fine condition.
