Original Set of 8 British Front of House Cards (8×10) for the Harry Levin historical epic, GENGHIS KHAN (1965) starring Stephen Boyd, Omar Sharif, James Mason, and Telly Savalas. Although many critics have complained that his film is nothing more than a shallow adventure story, others have praise for the locations, cinematography, sets, and costumes. It does seem that Levin forgot that the film is about Mongolians, since the only characters of Asian descent in the film are the extras. Some people found Dusan Radic’s score to be little more than ‘pseudo-epic orchestrations with grandiose flourishes,” while others found the score “fantastic” and achieving “Rosza-like standards.” This set of original British front of house cards are in fine plus condition.

The unforgettable biography of the flamboyant and controversial British military officer and his conflicted loyalties is one of the best movies ever made. With a brilliant script by Robert Bolt, a stunning score by Maurice Jarre, and unbelievably beautiful Super Panavision cinematography by Freddie Young, this film is considered to be ultimate historical biography. The sweeping desert vistas totally immerse the viewer, and the battle scenes are gripping. Here we have true epic filmmaking – without the assist of today’s cgi “magic.” LAWRENCE OF ARABIA was nominated for 10 Academy Awards and won seven—including Best Picture, Best Director for Lean, Best Music for Jarre, and Best Color Cinematography for Young. This original program booklet was made available to theater patrons attending the roadshow performances of LAWRENCE OF ARABIA in 1962. This program booklet is generally regarded to be one of the best of these programs which were usually prepared for hard ticket roadshow films. Condition is very fine.

Original Polish Poster (25×35 ) for the Anthony Mann epic, THE FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE (1964) starring Sophia Loren, Stephen Boyd, Alec Guinness, James Mason, Christopher Plummer, Anthony Quayle, Omar Sharif, John Ireland, Mel Ferrer, Eric Porter and Finlay Currie. Producer Samuel Bronston literally re-created ancient Rome in order to present its fall, politically, socially and economically in this Ultra Panavision 70MM production that came in at an estimated budget of $19M in 1960s money. Filmed primarily at the Bronston Studios in Spain, this international production was First Class all the way with magnificent cinematography, a lush orchestral score by Dmitri Tiomkin and Mann’s solid direction. The production team even replicated the Roman Forum down to the smallest detail. The artwork on this Polish poster is quite modern and depicts the armored head of a fallen centurion very much in the style of a contemporary fresco. Art is by Wiktor Gorka. Very Fine Plus.

Original Columbia Pictures 30 x 40 Poster for the Herbert Ross musical FUNNY LADY (1975) starring Barbra Streisand, James Caan, Omar Sharif, Roddy McDowell and Ben Vereen. This musical biopic continued to explore the life of 1930s-era comedienne/singer Fanny Brice after her divorce from gambler Nicky Arnstein (Omar Sharif) and her later involvement with impresario Billy Rose. FUNNY LADY was a glamorous big budget production that attempted to capitalize on Streisand’s success in the original FUNNY GIRL — a project she carried triumphantly from the Broadway stage to the Academy Awards. Teaming her with James Caan, then riding the stardom train after his mega success with THE GODFATHER and several other projects, seemed like a no brainer. The results were a mixed bag but entertaining nonetheless and with a solidly memorable score. The poster is in very fine, unfolded condition.

This is the musical biography of comedienne Fannie Brice, from her early days in the Jewish tenements of the Lower East Side of New York, to the height of her career with the Ziegfeld Follies. The original Broadway production opened at the Winter Garden Theater on March 26, 1964 and was nominated for the 1964 Tony Awards for Best Musical and Score. The film was 26-year-old Streisand’s feature film debut, directed by the great William Wyler, and it became the highest grossing film of 1968. It was nominated for eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Musical Score, and Best Original Song. Streisand shared the Oscar for Best Actress with Katharine Hepburn, one of the few times in the Oscar’s history that nominees tied for the award. Hepburn won her Oscar for THE LION IN WINTER. This poster is printed on two panels. The poster is unbacked, both panels are folded but are in very fine condition. Prettier by far the any of the American posters. While the credits are in Italian, Columbia kept the English title for the Italian release.
