Original Warner Brothers Scene Lobby Card (11×14) for the Michael Curtiz musical romance, THE JAZZ SINGER (1952) starring Danny Thomas, Peggy Lee, Eduard Franz, and Mildred Dunnock. Hollywood decided to remake the Al Jolson first-talking classic which was based on an original Broadway stage production which opened in 1925. In this remake, Jerry (Thomas) comes home after the Korean War but doesn’t want to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a cantor at a local synagogue. Thomas would rather sing in show business, and he meets and becomes involved with an aspiring singer named Judy (Lee). This was one of a number of films made in the late 40s and 50s about the Jewish experience in America. The musical score was nominated for an Academy Award, and both Thomas and Lee made very successful albums based on the score. This original scene lobby card is in very fine plus condition.
