Original Warner Brothers One Sheet Poster (27×41) for the Curtis Bernhardt comedy, KISSES FOR MY PRESIDENT (1964) starring Fred MacMurray, Polly Bergen, Eli Wallach, Arlene Dahl. MacMurray is the first “lady” in this role-switching light comedy of the mid-sixties. We’ve not had a woman President yet in the USA, but pretty and sophisticated Polly Bergen wouldn’t have been a bad start in ’64. MacMurray was almost in career wind-up by this time, but Bergen starred in several good films in this decade, including her memorable performace in CAPE FEAR. This folded one sheet is in fine condition.

Original Universal Pictures Three Sheet Poster (41×81) for the J. Lee Thompson crime thriller, CAPE FEAR (1962)—starring Gregory Peck, Robert Mitchum, and Polly Bergen. Enduringly suspenseful, dark, edgy, and profound– in this 1962 thriller, ex-con Max Cady (Mitchum) terrorizes the family of Georgia prosecutor Max Bowden (Peck), whom Cady blames for his incarceration. Mitchum’s Cady is intelligent, patient, meticulous, and brutal– a terrifyingly realistic villain who drives the otherwise upstanding Bowden to desperate, erroneous means to save his wife and child. CAPE FEAR illuminates the ethical boundaries of a man protecting his family, and the prosaic violence and constant threat of sexual assault make the film incredibly adult. Although director Lee J. Thompson was careful to never use the word “rape” in the film or to depict any sexual violence, the mere intimation made censors wary and thus the film was cut in some countries. This original three sheet poster is folded and in fine plus condition.
